With the new year here, our budget has been thought about good and hard. We have only donations to work with since we are a private non profit shelter. We do not receive any public or government assistance. That being said, we think that if we asked for specific needs to be faithfully donated, our money could go farther towards other shelter needs. We are very fortunate that our daily fed cat food is donated by a wonderful pet food company. We are so lucky to have this donation since we go through roughly 10,000 pounds of dry cat food each year! Treats are too expensive to dole out to 370 grateful cats, so we make our own special mix that we use as treats that is much more economical and healthy. We also have to purchase our kitten chow for the little ones to eat. We would love for 12 people to commit to purchasing one 13 pound bag or larger of the following bags each week. We use Meow Mix Tender Centers, Purina Complete, Purina Naturals and Purina Kitten Chow. To cover our needs each of these types needs to be at least a 13 pound bag. Three bags of each type is used each week.
Many of you express a desire to help and cannot volunteer. This would be a wonderful way to help us treat the cats and feed the kittens, and allow our shelter money to cover other important items. If you would be willing to purchase one of these bags each week faithfully, please email me at sue@sartohio.org so that I know. This way we can be sure all the types are purchased and that we have enough to cover our weekly need. Thank you!

This week has been an eye opener for SART. We did the courtesy posting for the kitty that needs to be rehomed. Over 1000 people read our post and we had one lovely person inquire about her suitability into their home. This shows me how there are so many more deserving cats that need homes than there are homes available. This explains why we have over 350 cats and kittens at the shelter that would make wonderful pets for good homes, and yet they sit. This shows me how people still find the answer is to dump their issue onto others. We have received three little ones dumped here this week due to people shucking off their responsibility onto others. And yet, we care for all these creatures every day like they are our personal pets. And it costs money. Funds go quickly and we are in need. If you are willing and able please consider donating to our wonderful organization. All money goes to the care of the cats. We are all volunteers at SART and so all of everyone’s donation goes to food, supplies, repairs, cleaning supplies, etc. to help keep everyone healthy and happy at SART. Please help!

Wow! With all the conversation about fundraising on our Facebook page, it prompted a very devoted supporter of SART to throw out a challenge to everyone that follows us. This person is willing to match donated funds up to $1000 given to SART over this weekend. This challenge will begin at 8:00 tonight and go until 8:00 Monday morning. This is a wonderful opportunity to raise $2000 for SART to help us through while we organize a wonderful fundraiser for financial help and fun for all. So, let’s step up to the challenge and donate the dollars to be matched! How fun! You can easily and safely donate through our website by going here and clicking on the PayPal Donate button: https://www.sartohio.org/donate/.
Remember, at SART, anything is everything…..and it all adds up!
