We have been bombarded with cats and kittens in the last month. Every available area is housing them at the shelter. I have even expanded into my home with kittens at this point. I have 3 mommas and their babies in foster care in private homes until the kittens are ready to be adopted. I have one more momma we need to find a safe place for. They are happy in a corner of the garage with a safe place for their babies, fresh food and water and a warm place to rest. If anyone is interested in helping with this for about a month, let me know.
If anyone knows of a nice farm that would be willing to take in 7 more feral cats that need a good, safe place to live and be fed regularly, please let me know. I would love to get them fixed first, but don’t know if I can pull in donations to be able to do this. They are hanging around an older couple’s home and they have been feeding them, but want to find a safe place for them to live. They are healthy and are ones that just need to be fed and sheltered – they are not demanding of human contact. Please let me know if you know of someone that would care for them.

I feel as though I need to apologize. I have not been able to keep the site updated as I would like to, and I apologize to you for that. The shelter has become so busy with the warm weather, kittens arriving, and more cleaning and feeding being done on a daily basis.
We are learning daily how to keep everyone safe, healthy and happy. We are very proud of our shelter and the wonderful animals that reside there. I will write more in the next couple of days. I have to let everyone know about Lucky (good news!); our new momma and babies; our rescued babies; some frustrating events, and what is in store in the next few months!

We are making an outside run for the cats at the shelter. It will be completely enclosed so that no climbers can scurry out. They will be able to go through a kitty door into the outside area, feel the grass on their feet, lay and bask in the sun, watch the birds more closely, play with the squirrels on the other side of the fence, feel the breeze and romp and play.
We were to begin construction on Saturday. Several volunteers have been helping getting everything to work correctly. A huge thank has to go to Jim Bradley, who had the know how and tools to make the run go together the most efficient way!
We have decided to name the outside play area “Cyrus Memorial Run”. We are hoping to also get new windows that look out over the run as well. The glass in the windows is very thin, and cracks easily. We want to replace the windows as we can with double pane glass for insulation and protection against cracks.
It will be a wonderful addition to the shelter. If anyone would like to donate to the memorial project, you may do so, in memory of Cyrus, or a special pet that you had along the way.
Through the sadness of last Saturday, a lasting memorial will be constructed to remember the cat who never gave up on humans, though time and time again, he had every reason to. Cyrus was a unique animal.

He is doing so well! In the past week he has come from sleeping 23 of 24 hours a day to being alert. He can sit on his haunches, he can sit up straight for a bit, and he has walked across the room to me 4 days in a row. Of course, all of this tires him quickly, but he is looking so much more healthy and strong. He got his CVR-C shot this week, he is starting to nibble on dry food between can feedings, and he looks at all of us with such appreciation.
