SART has entered into a Shelter Challenge that is being organized by Petfinder and The Animal Rescue Site. The challenge began September 14th and runs through December 20th. Each person may vote for their favorite shelter one time each day. The shelters that receive the most votes will be eligible for grant money for their shelter. Please help.
Click here to vote for SART in St. Marys, Ohio. Each day, one time, through December 20th. It would be so amazing to win! We have many needs that could be met – the cats would so appreciate it.

This has been a very overwhelming summer for SART. It has saddened us and frustrated us to see how many cats and kittens were born unwanted, and then treated in a very inhumane way. We have taken in, cared for, and brought back to good health, over 100 kittens since April. At this time we have 35 kittens, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 4 months, that would love to have someone love and care for them for their lifetime. We have also rescued many adults who had found themselves witihout a home and were wandering the streets, some treated horribly, like our Miley. He was found with a dog leash wrapped around his neck in the middle of a corn field. His neck was laid open from trying to get free, and he was dehydrated and underweight. Despite the harsh treatment, he is becoming a loving, beautiful cat!
I should update everyone on Lucky. He has become a sweetheart of a cat. He is acclimated into the shelter, he has friends, he is healthy and happy, and enjoying life. It was weeks and weeks of care, but he has become the cat he was meant to be, minus part of his tail.
The volunteers have worked hard this summer to keep everyone happy and healthy. It is many hours of disinfecting, scrubbing, feeding, loving and paying attention to the condition of each animal. SART appreciates all the help that they have given us!
If you are interested in adopting a kitten, or two, that would grow to be wonderful companions for many years, please let us know!

We have a litter of kittens that were rescued from a building burn down by a local fire department. The kittens were only 2 weeks old and had to be bottle fed and washed and held and loved. As a consequence, they are the most loving and sweet little 8 weeks old kittens. I have been finding good, loving inside homes for t hem, and are down to 3 left from the 7. If anyone is considering adding a new addition to your home, or have never had a cat, and want to try, these would be wonderful! I would truly love to just find a good home for the 3 together – they grow up together and are best friends for years – but would consider breaking apart the group. They are all female and sweet. Call me at 419-733-3650 if you would like to meet these little ones.

It is Thursday, May 21st. We just received a call for a litter of abandoned kittens that are approximately 3-4 weeks old. No momma. They need a safe place to be where it is warm, and they are fed a proper diet so that they continue to grow and become stronger. If you would be willing to foster them for 3 weeks or so, please call me today at 419-733-3650.

June is the national month of recognition for the need for homes for many cats and kittens in our country. The shelters are so full, and there are still so many that need help. Our rescue group has already this spring handled 22 kittens, and have in foster care right now another total of 15 kittens and there are people who have asked for our help for another total of 21 kittens. This is just SART. Sad to say that there are so many cats that are still producing kittens – sometimes as many as 3 litters per year!
Consider taking in a kitty this June. In these hard economic times, having a loving animal to welcome you at the end of the day would be well worth the investment spent! For SART kitties, all adults have already been fixed, have updated shots, have been wormed, are litter trained and very social creatures. All you have to do is welcome them into your home, feed them good cat food and water, and love them! And we all know that loving an animal lowers stress, calms us, and makes us feel much more content. So, please, for the sake of the well-being of so many needy animals, consider opening your home to a kitty. You will be glad you did!
