A very loyal supporter of SART has donated a lovely woman’s bag, winter scarf, billfold, umbrella and gloves to be raffled off , having the proceeds go to the residents of SART. We have set up the beautiful display at The Island Shop on Spring Street in St. Marys. You can go in and fill out raffle tickets, two for $5.00, and drop them in the box. We will draw the winner on December 23rd, – just in time for Christmas! SART would appreciate your support in the fun project, and the money made will help with the medical care of the residents of SART. It is a win/win!

No one stepped forward to foster our Duncan. So, we decided to push the envelope a bit and take him to the edge of his comfort zone and see what happens. He is doing wonderfully! We kept his big cage door open so that kitties could come in and visit him, which they did. They encouraged him, although he was rather fearful, but in the end he came out of the cage and has been learning how to get along with all the residents in his building. He is even sitting at the screen area watching the world outside! Of course, humans still scare him a bit, but not nearly as much. We are hoping, with time and patience, he will learn that he is just as deserving as everyone else living at SART.

We have a cat named Duncan, who came to us in the spring. He was very ill, and very untrusting of humans. It was clear that he had been abused and mistreated, probably his entire life to this point. The person who brought him had him neutered, given his shots, and he has been with us in a large cage learning to trust us. We can sit beside him and rub his head and neck and talk with him and he will be okay. One volunteer even got him onto her lap! But that is it. He has no trust for the other cats, he has no desire to come out of our huge cage we can sit in with him, and he seems perfectly content in his spot that is safe, with his food and water and litter box and blanket. But he is sad.
We think that it would take a very special person who truly understands cats, doesn’t have any right now, and would have the time to come to his level and work with him so that he learns that not all humans abuse and mistreat. If you think you are that person, please contact us. It would be a foster situation, at first, so that you could learn and he could learn and then we could evalute him. We just think there is something about him that warrants more time and work, rather than putting him in a warm barn with food and water. We think he needs more, and truly wants more, but is afraid.

It is an odd time of the year to have so many lovely kittens available, but we think you should know. If you are considering adopting a kitten, or two, please call and schedule an appointment to come meet and greet our lively crew of little ones. We have beautiful, healthy babies that are very loving and friendly, and desperately need to go to their forever homes.
Consider it – it will definitely add something special to your life!

Thank you to those of you who are diligently voting every day for SART. We are holding our own, but we need to kick it into gear and get some votes coming in on a regular basis to raise our rankings. We are very proud of the support we are receiving, and if every one voting would get one more person to do it every day it should make a huge difference. Please help! The financial support would be so welcome with all the growing kittens who will need to be spayed or neutered soon. So, please, spread the word!
